Dashing and fetching

Are there any adjectives that are gender specific?

For example - you can say a man is dashing, and you can say a woman looks fetching; but could you say that a man looks fetching, and a woman dashing?

A young woman at my dad's work asked what he thought of a new coat or top or something and he said it was very fetching... she didn't understand and in fact was quite offended... LOL.

Thanks for the lovely things you said on your previous post! I will be uploading the PDFs or a scan of the article to the internet at some point, I hope. x
