Virol, anyone?
It's been an emotionally draining week, and my big sister has just walked in the room and said that what we all need is some strengthening medicine. I used to have malt extract when I was little - the same stuff that Kanga gave to Roo in Winnie the Pooh. The brand name was Virol. Can you still get it?

Not sure whether Virol is still available but I have a photo of it being advertised on a tram in Houghton-le-Spring in 1910...
I was eating it by the spoonful in the fifties.
I have a pot of Virol (empty, sorry). Rather than being some sort of malt concoction it says on the front "a preparation of bone marrow, and ideal fat food for children and invalids". Lovely...!
Yukh! I wish you hadn't told me that!
I think the original had bone marrow, but at some point it changed into a concoction based on vitamins, malt extract, powdered egg, and sugar.
I used to buy extra with my pocket money, which probably explains why I am a chubby blighter!
