Choosing a moment

Chomsky

This living in the moment notion is all very well, but when you get a sunny spring day after the l-l-o-o-n-n-g-g-e-e-s-s-t-t and GREYEST winter in the history of Derbyshire, it’s hard to choose which moment to live in. Should it be

a/ a moment when you’re cycling down to Bakewell in the sunshine to buy a bottle of wine

b/ a moment when you’re freshening up the flowerbeds in the sunshine, after four months of no gardening

c/ a moment when you’re slacklining in the sunshine after three months of no slacklining

d/ a moment when you’re sitting on the garden bench in the sunshine, catching up with the weekend papers?

Which moment do you think I chose?

And which would you have chosen?

This is hard. Except for c. I don't hang laundry outside, if that is what you mean by "slacklining." Every other choice I am LONGING for! If I HAVE to choose, for myself, it will be b. I love pruning plants, raking up all the dead stuff from last Fall, etc. But a is good too and I am guessing that is the moment you chose ;)

Hi Ruth, to see what I mean by slacklining, click on the link at the side of this blog, called "Fifteen seconds." When someone else has had a guess I will tell you which I chose.

Hmmmm I think you chose slacklining because you've mentioned it and put photo's of it on your blog several times.

Personally I would have chosen A (but replaced wine with juice as I don't drink being a good Muslim!)because I love cycling, but don't get it to do much of it as I'm terrified of London roads.

No, I chose cycling, so Ruth was right. I wanted to garden, but felt that was the easy option and I needed exercise, so chose the bike.

Sue, I did what you asked and clicked on the "Fifteen seconds" link. All I can say is "WOW!" I am serious. You are so good. And now I know what a slackline is...LOL. Do you practice a lot? I enjoy a glass of wine on occasion...a red wine, pinot noir usually. What is your favorite? For now I'll have to drive my car to buy a bottle..too much snow on the ground for a bike ride.

I drink very little, Ruth, and my favourite is champagne...which is why i drink very little! Yes, I do practise my slackline a lot when it's out. I still have to master walking more than a few steps. The aim is to walk from one end to the other.

Sue, have you made it from one end to the other on the slackline? Great goal!

Not yet. I had it for my birthday in October. I practised for two months, and then brought it in because of bad weather. Now it is out again. The aim is to walk from one end to the other by September when I go to visit my son in San Francisco. Then I shall go to Dolores Park where they do slacklining and astound all the young bucks by getting up and walking on one of the slacklines there.

I'd say anything that involved sunshine.
