Sitting here

I am sitting here in my study in my pyjamas because there is no point in having my morning shower until I have been on the exercise bike.

I’ve done all my emails, and now it’s time to think about the Christmas tree. Today is the day for taking it  out to the shed to acclimatise it, before I plant it out.

But I’m wondering whether Christmas trees kettled in someone’s study in a house where there’s been an OFF Christmas, whether they have to follow the same rules as ordinary Christmas trees. It’s been so sweet and so small and so quiet, and I’ve enjoyed it so much, I’m wondering whether to just to move it to the other corner of my study, where it isn’t visible from the hall…

There's nothing wrong with prolonging the reverie of Christmas if that's what feels right... it's your house too, not just your hubby's.

Discovered your blog after reading But I Told You on my brand-new Kindle (and I said I'd never...). Just wanted to tell you how much I identified with so much in the book and how nice it is to read something so witty and moving about couples of a certain age and length of marriage.

Personally I prefer an elliptical trainer (I think of them as crosstrainers but you get bored with the lame jokes that ensue) to a bike, as if I sit down I forget to move, and you really need my husband who would put the tree up in November if I let him and cover everything in tinsel while I am the bah! humbug! misery in our household. Anyway, I found your (very interesting) blog after finishing But I Told You - just wanted to say how much I enjoyed it; a rare treat to read a novel - and a very witty and at times moving one too - about long-married lefties of a certain age - lots of identifying going on here! Hope you do write another.

I was thinking more that it was 12th night and the traditional time to take the decorations down, Jacob. It's my study and Dave wouldn't mind either way. But thanks for your support.

After having breakfast this morning in 'Gramma's Country Kitchen', in Banning CA, surrounded by all sorts of 'stuff' including a Singer treadle sewing machine and a cooker from 190 something , all decorated with Valentine regalia, including the tree, which surely , until yesterday was a Christmas tree..........then, should you be inclined, the tree could be moved to another corner and become a Valentine tree.........then after Valentines day there is Easter , so chicks and painted eggs all need a home ....here is inspiration for the Valentine tree :-)
