Shame

Why, when the world is such a beautiful place...

do some people behave in such an ugly fashion?

And here, the actions of the current UK government have been shameful in so many ways, with this the latest nastiness:

Good Bones

Life is short, though I keep this from my children.

Life is short, and I’ve shortened mine

in a thousand delicious, ill-advised ways,

a thousand deliciously ill-advised ways

I’ll keep from my children. The world is at least

fifty percent terrible, and that’s a conservative

estimate, though I keep this from my children.

For every bird there is a stone thrown at a bird.

For every loved child, a child broken, bagged,

sunk in a lake. Life is short and the world

is at least half terrible, and for every kind

stranger, there is one who would break you,

though I keep this from my children. I am trying

to sell them the world. Any decent realtor,

walking you through a real shithole, chirps on

about good bones: This place could be beautiful,

right? You could make this place beautiful.

Yesterday I wrote to my MP to tell her that in times of war it is vital to have a leader who is honourable, truthful and trustworthy, and that Johnson is patently not that person.

Today I am writing to protest against his cruel new policy to dump people fleeing from war and persecution in a country well known for its repressive regime. They come here to seek asylum and we should deal with their asylum claims here.

I am trying to remain hopeful that eventually compassion, justice and honesty will prevail in public discourse.

And to remember that it is better to light one small candle than to curse the darkness.

I've been on my bike on the Trail, I've been to a local art exhibition, and now I'm going to garden and paint.

I hope you have a lovely Easter weekend.

I too am in total despair with this government and it’s leader. I have written to my MP (Miriam Cates) many times and have never had a reply. The petition started by an NHS worker a couple of days ago stating that Johnson & Sunak should resign is now nearing half a million signatures so obviously many many people are disgusted at their behaviour. Surely now more than ever with the world on high alert we need a responsible and honest leader to represent us - Johnson has shown himself to be neither.

I have attempted to distance myself emotionally from this issue . It is so scary and sad to think about it. And thinking about it leads to thinking about the offshore refugee camps that Australia pays for . I don't know , how long will people be forced to stay in these out of sight out of mind camps? And make no mistake , Rwanda is an efficiently run country, they will do what they are paid for. And no disagreement with the government is tolerated.

Hi Anita, it’s disgraceful that you have never ever had a reply from your MP. Mine does reply, generally speaking, but it is always to take the disgusting party line.
Hi Marmee, I have protested but yes, sometimes one has to emotionally distance oneself from the news in order to survive.
